havasupai pt 1

Hello unseen audience, I just came back from an incredible adventure!

My friend Michelle and I went backpacking to the Havasupai Reservation and visited some waterfalls in the area. It has been something that we have been training for and I'm excited to share with you what we did!

Wednesday

introduction: leader's team

One thing characteristic of this quarter is being able to grow in my relationship with my Intervarsity Off-Campus leader's team. I mentioned it a little bit in a blog post, but I wanted to write a full blog post on them. They are actually all studying at my apartment right now, which makes me really happy ^^. Anyways, moving along ~

Our fellowship organizes itself by geographic area and the one that I am a part of serves the apartments / commuters. My role as an "Area Leader" (AL) is to lead this team of people in doing mission together: small groups, outreach, community building, etc. My time an AL has been difficult for many reasons, but these people give me a lot of joy and peace. This quarter, they've been my main source of support, which I feel so so blessed by.

Courtney // She's the hype of our group. She is kind-hearted, generous, hospitable, and always willing to invest time into people, no matter how little time / effort she has. In this past year, I have been able to witness just the amazing growth in her confidence and her intimacy with the Father. Most of our interactions are just kind of dumb fun and relaxing, which gives me a lot of joy.

Melinda // I have been amazed time and time again just the effort and intentionality that Melinda spends in the things that she does. Whether it be in school, friendships, church, or small group, She puts all of her heart and soul into what she does. Discipleship with her has been very redeeming in many ways and it's awesome to see the ways that God uses my life experience and mistakes to speak to her.

Justin // Before this school year started, Chris told me that Justin would be my main partner in this ministry, which proved to be very true. In the beginning, he would help me a lot in learning about how Off-Campus ministry operates, since it is very different from dorms. I find a lot of comfort in knowing that he's got my back if I need.

Jenny // I have been so amazed and motivated by the way that Jenny lays down her life for her ministry, despite the fact that she is already so busy with nursing school and helping out her family. There is a sincere focus on the mission of bringing people to Christ. She doesn't spend a lot of time with us, but her spirit inspires us in ministry.

In this quarter, I have been able to spend a lot of time with Courtney and Justin - studying almost every day together, eating together, walking to class together, and just living life together. Because we spend so much time together, we are able to better care for and speak into each other's lives. I feel very lucky for these two dear friends in my current crazy season of life.

bye bye until next time ^

Saturday

training for havasu

This past few months (although I had intermittent breaks), I have been training for a backpacking trip with Michelle by being more intentional in spending time exercising and building my muscles. I've been really enjoying exercising more than I expected. In general, I'm more alert throughout the day and able to fall asleep with more ease. Today, I was able to go on a hiking trail with Krystal that I usually go on with my parents. And I felt like I was able to enjoy it so much more since my body could handle the hike much better. I am probably wildly unprepared, but I am really looking forward to be away from the city, people, school, busyness and enjoy nature, silence, and time with God. I might do a blog series on the hike, but we shall see.

Also, I asked my friends to help assemble a playlist for the road since we'll be driving for quite a bit so I'm pretty excited to take a listen through it.

Here's a pic from my hike with Krystal!

bye bye for now ^
