Recently, I had a conversation with my brother and one thing that he mentioned was that there wasn't a lot of things that excite me. I would have to disagree. And as a response, I decided to write this post.
1. Arts and Craft fair (shout out to Michelle!)
If you don't know what an arts and craft fair is, just look at my other blog posts (here, here, and here) to get a feel. I even wrote about craft fairs in my my college application essays - here's a segment of it:
"These craft shows have a way of making me feel happy inside – like a child on Christmas Eve. Every time I attend one of these craft shows, I get a “quaint” feeling inside, almost giddy with excitement. Everything is unexpectedly charming and attractive. I can’t help but gravitate towards the booths and stare at these incredible pieces of artwork. "
2. Ice cream and cake
In short, I have three stomachs - one for food, one for ice cream, and one for cake. (read more)
3. a familiar tune
There's something about music that moves people. When I hear a song that I know and love, it puts a smile on my face.
4. taking pictures
I only recently started getting into photography (read more), but I love it so much! I'm little slow at getting the right settings on the camera and it takes an incredible amount of patience, but it's all worthwhile when I look back and see the few pictures that turned out great. I also love using disposable cameras and Polaroids. They are generally more expensive though..
5. stuffed animals
When I see a cute stuffed animal at the store, my first instinct is to buy it and cuddle with it. Usually my rational side controls myself before I take out my wallet, but there have been times when I have made pretty irrational stuffed animal buys. haha.
6. a well made TV show / film.
There is nothing more exciting than sitting down to watch the next episode of a great TV show. I'm not an expert in this field, so I have no idea what the producers do to create such a masterpiece, but it makes me so excited. Recently, I started watching Sherlock Holmes and that television show is pretty brilliant.. I also love film, but I haven't watched any good ones recently. Another thing that gets me excited is short films that I find on YouTube, especially those produced by Wongfu Production and Jubilee Project. I get a warm fuzzy feeling after I watch those.
7. traveling
oh I absolutely LOVE traveling. Going to a different place and experiencing life in another world is simply my favorite thing. And the actual transportation aspect makes me excited to - there is something magical about stepping on a bus, car, plane, bike, etc., and knowing that when you step off, you'll be in another place entirely.
8. letters
I recently read a book about writing letters and I learned that it takes a lot of time and effort to write a good letter, whether that be a thank you letter or a congratulatory one. I'm starting to get into writing letter more often and I even bought a stationary set and a fountain pen to improve my penmanship. I love receiving/reading letters - it's like a little time machine where the other person of the past is writing to the present you, and the future you (if you save it and read it later). It's like a mini time capsule of some sorts.
9. Cozy Cafes
Back at my hometown, there is a coffee shop called Catalina Coffee company and every time I go there, I just am so comfortable and feel so excited to be there. Something about the aroma of coffee, mix matching couches and lamps, and the soft ocean breeze that makes it so wonderful.
10. Friends
It makes me so excited to see my friends, especially those that I haven't seen in a while. There is something so beautiful about friendship. I also love making new friends - and I am surprisingly continuing to make new friends, even though it's in the middle of the school year.
There are so many other things that make me excited, but I'll save them for another time!
bye bye until next time ^
