havasupai pt 2

This is part 2 of my havasupai trip! Check my first post if you haven't ^^

Friday (03.23.18)
On this day, the two falls we saw were Mooney Falls and Beaver Falls. After a hearty breakfast and getting ready quickly, we headed out north of the camp.

The first fall was Mooney Falls - I would say that it's even more majestic and grand compared to Havasu. When the water hits the pool at the bottom, the water sprays outward and you can really feel the force of the waterfall. To get down to the bottom of the waterfall, you need to climb down the side of the rock and it's pretty scary since it's slippery and the steps are uneven.

To get to Beaver Falls, the hike involves crossing the stream a couple of times, which felt kind of adventurous. It's amazing how much water there is and how beautiful the water color is. Obviously, the falls are the stars of this site, but there were so many small falls that were also so beautiful.

At Beaver Falls, we spent some time swimming, eating lunch, and enjoying the view.

Saturday (03.24.18)
Today, we headed back up the Canyon! There aren't a lot of photos from this day since we were dying on the way back. The first couple of miles were especially difficult, since it was a good amount of uphill. The snickers and Cliff bars that we brought were probably the main things that pushed me throughout the 10 miles. A little before the end of the hike, I actually ran out of water, which was pretty terrifying. We had Gatorade left, although it wasn't a lot and we didn't know how much we had left. Luckily, we were only around 1.5 miles to the end and it was also pretty overcast (although it was forecasted to be sunny).. Otherwise, I most likely would have gotten dehydrated.

The last mile of uphill was pretty brutal. It was in these moments where I was grateful for those times that I went to the gym even though I didn't want to and I really pushed myself on the treadmill to do just a little more. The feeling of reaching the top was amazing. I was relieved that it was over and amazed that my body just did was I just did.

After resting for a bit, we headed to Kingman, ate Sonic, and went to our Air BnB to rest for the night.

Sunday (03.24.18)
On our way back to LA, we were passing by Needles and we saw a sign that said "Needles, California - Home of Spike" Apparently Spike is Snoopy's brother and so Michelle got really excited. The following billboard said "See Spike - Next Exit" - so naturally, Michelle pulls all the way to the right and takes the next exit. We got into the Shell travel center and we see this giant statue of Spike LOL. And there was a list of notable quotes by Spike that was listed posted. All of a sudden I hear Michelle laughing like crazy. Basically, in the quote, it says "Hi Michelle!" - we both start dying in amusement and laughter.

Aside from that, there wasn't anything super notable from Sunday - just a lot of songs from the 2000s and admiring the Californian landscape.

Thanks for reading about my adventures!

Bye bye until next time ^
